Craft Us Crazy Manly Card

Our current challenge over at Craft Us Crazy is to make a Father's Day project or any project with masculine colors. I am using this cute image called Captain Jack from Pink Gem Designs....isn't he adorable?! I pulled out some papers that I absolutely love from Stampin Up for this card. One of the talented entries in a recent challenge at Craft Us Crazy printed her image on kraft cardstock and I thought this would be the perfect image to try that. I love how it turned out! Notice I didn't use my favorite copic markers but I pulled out my prisma pencils instead and I LOVE how they work with the kraft. Can't wait to se what you make for this challenge!

Craft Us Crazy Love/Remembrance Challenge

The new challenge for Craft Us Crazy is a theme one (Love/Remembrance). My hubby and I just recently had our anniversary so I made this card for him. I used these cute bees and flowers from Digis by Phooka and you can find them here. I just typed my sentiment in to print out with my digi images which I just used in varying sizes. That beautiful black/white paper is from Making Memories. I used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors to add a little grass border with my ribbon. Digis by Phooka has graciously donated a $10 gift voucher for the winner of this challenge!!! Also Stamp Fairy is sponsoring this challenge, too and they have donated a $9 gift card. Graduation Card

Here is a quick card I made tonight using my cricut and some stampin up punches. I cut the graduation cap from Everyday Paper Dolls and 6 1/2" and 7" for the shadow I believe. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and the punches used for the sentiment are both from Stampin Up. I used the argyle cuttlebug embossing folder and then my white gel pen to add some faux stitching. Hope you like it.

Isn't this the sweetest little ballerina you've ever laid your eyes on? My coloring didn't do her justice but I did want to share some of the Pixie Cottage stamps as Michelle's Scrapbooking & More is one of our sponsors for this challenge at Craft Us Crazy. This is an actual rubber stamp and it is so nicely etched that I get a perfectly full image everytime I stamp it even though it is a really nice size stamp and I'm not the best stamper out there. Craft Us Crazy Challenge!

The new challenge over at Craft Us Crazy is a challenge to use Something New or Your Favorite Embellishment. I decided to do both....my favorite embellishment to use is ribbon. One of these days I'll get my crafting space cleaned up and I'll take a photo of my ribbon storage....I love ribbon!!! Anywho....I love to pleat my ribbon as I did on this card and my something new is I took some of my wrinkle ribbon and made a flower......so easy....don't know why I didn't try this before. I love watching all the youtube videos out there where these talented crafters share their techniques and I can't remember who I first saw do this but it definitely isn't my own idea. All I did was hand stitch a running stitch along the bottom of a piece of seam binding that I glimmer misted and then just pulled and gathered it into the shape I wanted....I then added a button with some baker's twine (2 more of my favorite embellies). Eagle Scout Centerpieces

Here is one of the centerpieces I made for Ryan's Eagle Court of Honor. I used my cricut to cut the stars. You can see that this is after being hauled back and forth as the ribbon around the neck of it is a little skewed but I forgot to take any photos beforehand. I just take a ball canning jar and filled it with red shredded filler and then added my layered stars, flags and flowers on little skewer sticks. I printed the emblem off the internet and matted it on blue/white and red ovals and added some gingham ribbon.

Crop Chocolate Echo Park For The Record

You know I do love Echo Park but this For The Record kit is amazing!!!! I wanted to use so many of the patterns on this LO! Everything on this page came from the kit except the basic black cardstock. I did some distressing both with ink and my distress tool to rough up the edges and then I tore some areas and rolled the paper back so you can see the backside....then I took bits of another pattern and tucked it in those areas. Those cute little "typewriter numbers" are stickers from the kit and take a look at the headers on this green ledger paper

I knew I had to put priceless up there as soon as I saw the paper. "The news" and the "less" are also from stickers included in this kit. I can still make tons more projects with the rest of the kit...these EP kits are packed!!! You can find this kit and much more at Crop Chocolate which is not your typical daily deal site......they change their deal many many times throughout the day so you want to keep this site open! Our challenge over at Craft Us Crazy this week is to make a project pertaining to Mother's Day or something with flowers! I used this super cute image from Meljens Designs. This image is so adorable that I didn't want to print it too small so I decided just to incorporate my greeting in the image. I wish I had a stamp that was just a little bit smaller but..... The papers I used are from the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love Mini Deck (cute, cute, cute). As usual I will post my copics used on this project below. This week's challenge is a Thinking of You/Animals Theme one over at Craft Us Crazy. I'm so amazed at all the awesome projects I've been seeing over there! Challenge #5 over at Craft Us Crazy is a theme one.....just make something with a Spring/Easter theme and you are good to go. By now, you probably know how much I love Echo Park and this new Springtime kit is no exception. Hawaiiana

Ryan and Logan were lucky enough to get to complete the Hawaiiana Merit Badge while at Summer Camp last year. They learned so much about the Hawaiian culture and customs. I used the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge fo rmost of the cuts on this one. The grass was made with my Martha Stewart fringe scissors and I used the Tim Holtz ticket die and the Stampology ticketed stamps for the red ticket. Don't you love it when stamps and dies fit perfectly together!!! I used lots of Tim Holtz distress inks to give the trees and leaves dimension. I printed the Hawaiiana merit badge from the Scout site and cut it out with my nestabilities.

I usually have one or more sheets of cardstock in a kit that I think I will never use....that is why I've never been much of a kit person....I usually buy by the sheet and then it takes me forever to put together the patterns I want to use......not with Echo Park. Craft Us Crazy Challenge #1 Anything Goes

I'm so excited about our first challenge over at Craft Us Crazy. Jeri is giving us an Anything Goes challenge to get us started!!! So you can make any kind of project you want!!! Just go "crazy"! (he! he!) We are so excited to have Digital Delights as our very first sponsor for this challenge. I am so excited that I got to work with this super cute image called Dilly Duck & Ladybug from their store. This sweet little duck was so fun to color...I'll show you the copics I used below. That adorable duck paper in my background is from the Ducks in a Row paper pad by October Afternoon and I used basic black cardstock that I keep on hand. That pretty yellow cardstock is crushed curry by SU. I used my nestability dies for the frame and some of the spellbinder dies are in 1/4" increments which sometimes I feel is too large so I cut a second black one in the same size as my image layer and then I cut it in half....the gap is hidden behind the buttons. I think it worked pretty well as I'm in no way a "free hand cutter" so that was out of the question. Here is a little information about the Digital Delights site:

Ryan Summer Camp 2010

We are so proud of Ryan. He made Eagle Scout in December....so....I'm frantically trying to finish his Scouting Scrapbook before his court of honor!!!! Here is one page that I had a blast making. Most of the die cuts are made with my Cricut and the solutions Camping cartridge. The dutch oven sticker is from a Karen foster scouting sticker sheet. If anyone has any scouting scrapbook page ideas they would like to share...I'd love to see them! Also, trying to come up with something for centerpieces for the court of honor ceremony. We are going with a patriotic theme....would love ideas!

Sorry....not the best picture but I was making this for a birthday party the next day and the picture was taken at about 1:00 in the morning. Does anyone else do that? Used my cricut on this one and I know the background shape is from Storybook and the tiara is either from Storybook or Once Upon a Princess...sorry I was looking at them both and I should have written it down. The paper is DCWV and some SU cardstock with some BG for the pink top layer. The sentiment stamp is from Papertrey Ink. Hope you are having an awesome weekend!

Ryan Crossing Over

I know....I know....nothing for weeks and then 2 in one day! This LO is of Ryan crossing over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. He just made Eagle last month and I want to make a scrapbook for him of his adventures in scouting and my goal is to have it done before his Eagle Court of Honor which is tentatively scheduled for early March.... Here is my first page......I'm so far behind in my scrapbooking!!!! This is from 2008 and I haven't even started scrapping that year yet. I'm way behind that. I promised myself that I was going to get all my 35mm photos that I already have printed scrapped before I would start the digital ones and I'm not making alot of progress there. It might help if I didn't take the attitude that I NEED to scrap everything or every event that I have photos of.....he he he. We will be moving in the spring and I'm in major purge mode so I really need to get those boxes of photos into albums!!!

Welcome Baby!

I had so much fun getting back in my craft room!!! I needed a baby card and I really wanted to make one using this card as my motivation. I love Laurie's style! This sweet image is from Elizabeth O Dulemba. She is a wonderful illustrator who has tons of sweet images over on her site. I used my copics to color...sorry I didn't take a picture of the colors I used before I put them away. I believe the pinks are RV21 and RV23 with a brighter one thrown in. I used papers from October Afternoon's Ducks in a Row backed with some SU cardstock and then an off brand lighter weight cardstock for the top two images as the SU cardstock is a little thick for my border punch. This border punch is a MS punch and I think it is called crowns....it is a punch around the page set. I added some ribbon from my stash with a cute yellow button adorned with a silver charm (Walmart...I think). Hope you enjoy and have an awesome Monday!

I apologize for not being here lately. My in-laws were here to visit and then my Dad went in the hospital for a short visit. My hubby has been in and out of town a lot lately but I was able to squeeze in a trip to visit my folks over Thanksgiving and then I came home and had to get busy getting the school semester finished with the boys and get ready for Christmas! Makes me tired again just typing it...ha! ha! I so appreciate your prayers for my Dad. He has been feeling somewhat better over the last few weeks! I do have some awesome crafty news to share, too! For this layout, I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #126 which you can find here. What a wonderful inspiration this site is!!! I've had these papers in my stash for a while so I can't even tell you what they are but I love doing western themed pages! I made another of the "pleated flowers" and then I cut some stars out of some jeans one of the boys had outgrown. That "saddle up" stamp is from a Unity stamp set. These pictures are from back in 2001 while we were stationed in Germany and we went to this rodeo on one of the military bases there. It was so much fun!

Life Is Good

I made this layout for a Scraplift Challenge over at Crop Chocolate. I used the Life is Good paper pack from Echo Park and I have to say I've purchased several of the Echo Park kits over at Crop Chocolate and I have loved everyone of them. They coordinate together so well and I could sit for hours trying to find papers to go together so I love that they have done this for me!

Prayers Please

I'm so sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. I have company here and they are staying in my "craft room" so I haven't really done anything for the last couple of weeks. I did want to stop in and ask all of you sweet followers to say a prayer for my Dad. You may have seen me post at one time or another about the fact that he is battling lung cancer. He just finished a round of radiation and is continuing with chemo but he has been feeling really rotten lately and I'm really worried about him. For those of you that are separated from family and friends by many many miles (in my case a big ocean, too) you know how hard it is to be so far away especially when something like this is happening. I thank all of you for stopping by and I would truly appreciate your prayers for my Dad.

Here is another LO made with the same kit as the one below. On this one I used one of the huge "glitter stickers" I called them in my last post but when I opened it they are really like overlays. These are absolutely beautiful! The photo doesn't do them justice at all but the colors are gorgeous! Here is a close up of it...

Hope you like it! That beautiful day at the beach stamp is from Catslife Press. Isn't if fun? They have all kinds of these "seal stamps". I think they are a wonderful way to add some journaling info!

Get Picky Sketch #1

I was blog hopping the other day and ran across this great new sketch blog called Get Picky and I couldn't wait to try out their first sketch. Here is what I came up with using the Rusted Sun kit from Fancy Pants which I picked up for a steal at Crop Chocolate. I used my Cricut Life's A Beach cartridge to cut out the surfboard and the large circle in the background. That little bit of green cardstock on the surfboard and the flower are all I used that did not come from this kit. I couldn't believe it when I opened this kit as it came with overlays, beautiful rubons, thick stickers, alphabet stickers, a huge sheet of glitter stickers, lots of beautiful doublesided patterned paper that I really had a hard time deciding which side to use. I'm going to get tons of projects done just from this one kit! I made my flower by simply braiding some yarn and then adhering it to a cardstock circle just winding the braid into a circle and adhering it with fabric glue as I went. I then added a Brad Buddie in the middle. I wish I could take credit for coming up with that but alas I can't and I cannot remember for the life of me where I saw it done. I'm sure I probably have it saved somewhere and if I find it I'll post it for you but it was very simple to do. I love the look especially for a boy's page where you don't want a girlie flower! Creative Scrappers Sketch #125

I used the Creative Scrappers Sketch #125 for this layout. What a talented bunch of designers they have over there! I get so inspired everytime I visit their blog! I used some DCWV papers for this one that have been in my stash for a while. I used the SU medallion stamp to add some interest in two of the corners of this cool distressed paper. I added some rubons for my title and some flowers and buttons out of my stash....some randon bling and I was done with this fun layout. My sweetie pie looking all cute in her pigtails!!!

Halloween 1999

Here is another layout I made using the Happy Halloween kit by Echo Park. I'm just loving these papers!!! All the papers except the cardstock are from this kit as well as the haunted house and the 1999. The rubons, decorative pin and the kit all came from Crop Chocolate. If you aren't familiar with this site, be sure to read my posts below for more info and check it out. You'll be glad you did. They've been posting some beautiful Christmas kits already! I'm so proud of myself on this layout as I didn't follow a sketch but it came together pretty quickly as I knew the papers I wanted to use and they are all from the same kit so they color coordinated already! I used my cute Halloween seal stamp from Catslife Press again on this layout. I love round stamps!!!

Practical Scrappers Sketch Challenge!

I just LOVE a sketch challenge. It's such a great start as the hard work is done already. Anywho....I am using the awesome sketch from last Friday's sketch challenge over at Practical Scrappers. I couldn't wait to play with my new Happy Halloween papers by Echo Park which I picked up from Crop Chocolate. If you haven't checked out Crop Chocolate it is a great "daily deal" site but it has so many awesome deals everyday so you want to check often. I can't wait to get the new Echo Park Christmas pack!!! It's in my shopping cart now....you can actually save the things you want and keep them in your cart until you are ready to check out which saves you bundles on shipping...plus they have FREE shipping for all orders over $60. All the patterned papers are from that Halloween kit except for the orange on the lion and it is from Echo Park's A Walk in the Park. I'm so loving these Echo Park kits and they are just full of wonderful papers. I've still got oodles of both kits left and can make many many many more projects with them. I also used the Making Memories Spook Alley Shimmer Rub-Ons which I also picked up from Crop Chocolate. I played with my Glimmer mists on this layout and I've learned that I have a pretty heavy hand (he! he!).....got to practice a little on that! I used some more of my wrinkle ribbon that I made using the Glimmer Mists (maybe I should stick to doing that with my mists). I had one Catslife Press stamp that I love so I went looking for more and found I can order direct from the company so I did. They came so super fast and I used one of them (Halloween Seal) on this layout and you can find it here. I absolutely LOVE their seal stamps! As I was looking for the link so you can see where to purchase the stamp I used on this layout I saw they just released some brand new ones!!! I foresee another order for me!!! My hubby doesn't have to do any Christmas shopping this year! Oh and by the way, that cute little lion is from the Create A Critter Cricut cartridge....love how this cartridge layers!

This week's challenge at Sew Many Cards is to make a Christmas themed project. I chose to use this ADORABLE polar bear....you can purchase this cutie here. This patterned paper is some left over I had from last year but I'm pretty certain it is by Imaginisce. I printed my image rather large because I wanted to have plenty of room to color! If you look real closely at his Santa hat you can see that I used some fun flock on it so it has lots of texture. Sew Many Challenges - Embossing Challenge!

This week's challenge over at SMC is a technique one. We are asking that you use embossing (dry and/or wet) on your project. I chose to work with this fall image which you can purchase here. This image was part of a special fall package last season so if you dont' see it right off just email Angela and she will get it for you. She is updating some of the images on the site. I LOVE texture so....I used one of my Tim Holtz embossing folders for the green base and I also did a little distressing (tearing) on the red borders but it isn't showing up very well in the picture. I also used distress ink on the image panel (love doing that). I also used some wet embossing on my sentiment. The patterned papers are from the Imaginisce Apple Cider line (love those too). This was a very fun card to make!!! Here are the copics I used:

This week's challenge at Sew Many Challenges is to make a project in honor of Grandparent's Day. It can be a love theme or a thank you theme. I chose to work with Owen and Duncan. That little boy sure is cute but Duncan just steals my heart....isn't he cute?!!! You can purchase them here. I used some patterned papers from Garden Variety by Cosmo Cricket. I printed the sentiment on my computer and just cut it out as a banner and added some baker's twine. I picked up this cute set of papers from Crop Chocolate. It is A Walk in the Park and it is made by Echo Park. It is a fabulous kit and such an awesome price on Crop Chocolate! We're back up and running over at Sew Many Challenges and I have to say it was a nice summer break but it felt really good to start crafting again! We are doing a "Sew Stitchy" challenge for our fall kickoff and I'm so glad as I purchased the Janome Sew Mini specifically for this purpose months ago and I really haven't done much with it so.....that's the beauty of these challenges.... they get us doing things and trying techniques that we've been wanting to do but....life happens and we don't get around to it. I went with the squiggly look since I can't really even draw a straight line let alone sew one. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Beautiful Layout

I apologize for being MIA lately. I've just been really busy with the kids and I've not had much "crafting time". Sew Many Cards will be starting up their challenges again now that everyone is getting back into the school routine, etc. I'm working on a project for this Friday's challenge right now and I'm so excited to be back in my craft room! The layout above is one I made using the uber talented Marion's ( A Piece of Craft ) tutorial. I just love her style!

WOW....I can sew! Not well but....

I know this is super easy but I'm still so proud of myself that I actually made this. I am so so so not a seamstress! It is made out of a pillowcase and if you google pillowcase dress you won't believe all the results you will find. Literally all I had to do was put in armholes and a neck. I did have to take it up a little so there is a seam also along the side but because it is a pillowcase the hem is all done already! The bow on the bottom is put on with a snap so I can remove it for washing! Now to find some really cute pillowcases....it seems most of the stores only have solid colors so I'm hoping to run across some neat ones at the thrift store! I did make another one out of fabric from the bolt the other day and it actually was pretty easy, too. I added a solid color border across the bottom of a seersucker cherry print and it turned out cute. It only took less than 1/2 a yeard of fabric so still a very inexpensive dress to make and....when they outgrow it as a dress let the ribbons out and they can have a long top and wear leggings or shorts with a shirt underneath.

Halloween (Ryan)

I wanted to play with my Peachy Keen face stamps so I went to work on this Halloween layout of Ryan back in 2000. I don't know the makers of the patterned papers....had them in my stash. The title is a rubon from Karen Foster that I just cut down to fit my page. I used my cricut to cut the spider and the super hero. I used the new hide feature on my Gypsy to hide the cuts for the faces on both. Here is a close up of the super hero.

I got a little carried away trying to add some highlights to his hair....kinda makes me think of Elvis. Hope you like it!!

Bunny Blu (Stitchy Stamps)

Isn't this little bunny just the cutest sad bunny you've ever seen? This sweet image is from Stitchy Stamps and you can purchase it here. I just thought he looked so blue that I couldn't work with any other color on this project. I used some papers from October Afternoon's Ducks in a Row collection (cute stuff!). I printed my sentiment from my computer and used SU punches for the tags. The buttons are from PTI and the green cardstock is SU Kiwi Kiss. Here are the copic colors I used:

Angela has not only been without a computer for the last several days but also without AC and it is over 100 degrees where she lives so.....we are all taking a little break while she takes care of those priorities. Crop Chocolate Projects

The Crop Chocolate Chocolatiers had an online crop this weekend. I didn't get to participate in all the challenges but I did get a few things done. Here are a couple. The card was made using Making Memories black/white mat stack and the flower is one of those scalloped circle flowers I love to make. The layout uses some of the Making Memories Embellishment Papers (great versatile patterned papers). If you've not heard of crop chocolate....hold on to your seats because you are going to LOVE it. This is not just another one of those "daily deals" sites. Crop Chocolate has several deals a day so you will want to have a window on your computer open with it and refresh it several times a day as you can't beat the deals you will find...i.e. Slice machine for $89!!! Plus....if you check out the Sweet Talk you will find a chat board that is full of inspirational ideas and a wealth of information about a huge variety of topics! Growing Pains

I made this layout for an online crop I was trying to participate in but just too much other stuff going on....I did get this layout done, though. I used a layout in Creating Keepsakes by Jennifer Davis as my sketch. The patterned paper is from Making Memories Embellishment Papers and the "ruler paper" is actually a tape by Making Memories (going to get more of that stuff!). I used my slice to cut out the title and the journaling block. Hope you are having a great weekend!

I'm really working hard to get my 35mm pictures scrapped! Here is another LO I had fun with. I used my cricut mini monograms cartridge to cut my circles and the Old West cartridge for the title. The background paper is from Debbie Mum's Harvest and Holiday pack and the other patterned paper is just something I had in my stash. Hope you like it!

Sew Many Cards Anything Goes Challenge!

This week's challenge over at Sew Many Challenges is Anything Goes! I have been itching to play with this sweet little lamb....haven't ewe? (he! he! he!) "Ewe" can get Ellie here. I have a good friend and neighbor who is getting ready to leave the island in a few short days so I wanted to make a "miss ewe" card. I took some PTI kraft for my card base and then some SU Baja Breeze cardstock and stamped some clouds from a Verve stamp set called Up Up and Away to make the blue layer of my background. The green dotted paper is from Scenic Route. I made another of the dictionary print flowers (love those) and then I used my computer to print my sentiment and then punched it using a MS tag punch. The cute button is from Papertrey Ink also. Hope she likes it! Here are the few copics I used....one great thing about this image is it doesn't require a lot of coloring:

Heidelberg Castle

I am slowly but surely getting through some of my 35 mm pictures that have been boxed away just waiting to be scrapped. This LO is of a trip we took with some friends to Heidelberg Castle. What a neat place!!! We so miss Germany! The print patterned paper on the background is from Imaginisce and is called Letter of Love. The castle print paper is from The Paper Patch and is called Buckskin Burlap. I used my cricut to cut my castle and the luggage tack and did lots of distressing on this one. Distressing is actually very therapeutic....really! Hope you like it!

Sew Many Cards Fancy Fold Patriotic Challenge!

Isn't this sweet image fun? This is Tayla and Owen Independence Day and you can purchase it here. This week's challenge over at Sew Many Challenges is to make a "fancy fold" card with a patriotic theme. I chose this fun image and I made a gate fold card. Here is a picture of it open:

This is a really easy card to make. I cut my paper at 10" x 5" and then scored along the 10" side at 2.5" and 7.5" which gives you a 5" square card. I used some pure poppy PTI cardstock and my basic white Georgia Pacific cardstock that I get at Walmart by the ream. The blue star patterned paper is from my good friend Sandie and I'm not sure who the manufacturer of that paper is. I cut my stars using my Cricut and layered them so that one stays on the bottom layer when it opens. Here are the copics I used:

The patterned papers I used are from Making Memories (black/white) and October Afternoon (yellow dots from Farm Fresh ....love those papers...). I only used copics Y32, Y35, YR21 and YR24. I used my new Tim Holtz bracket dies to get the fancy edge on the bottom and then I used my largest "ticket square" nestie...that is not the proper name but I can't remember what the "real" name is.....I then used my SU ticket corner punch to make the yellow and black layers match up. I added some SU glitter to my bee's wings and some ribbon I picked up at my local craft store. I love that the sentiment is incorporated in this image so I was all set to go. I had so much fun with this layout. I really haven't played with banners at all even though they have been very popular for a while now. I wanted to use a banner on this layout but it just looked so plain in the upper corner there that I decided to make it a sun and my banner the rays. I thought it turned out pretty cute and then it made a nice place for my title. I cut the banner on my Cricut with Calligraphy Collection and the bike is from Independence Day. I used the "skid marks" for my tad of journaling. I've got to play around with photographing my layouts more. I have a hard time with something that large. I don't know why it is that much different than photographing my cards but I just never seem to get the same quality of picture. Hope you like it!

Verve Ready, Set, Stamp Challenge!

I made this card for the Verve Ready, Set, Stamp Challenge. You can get more information here. The challenge ends Monday the 14th and the challenge is to make a project using the Up Up and Away stamp set. I did some paper piecing which was actually quite fun! I used some of my scrap papers and this came together pretty easily. I love how the top 2 balloons are floating right off the mat they are on....that was an afterthought as the image was just too large and it was covering up all the cute little clouds I had stamped (also from the same up up and away set) but I didn't want to loose the balloons so this was my compromise. I am having way too much fun using this messy ribbon technique....it works great when you don't want a cutesy bow but you are like me and think everything needs some ribbon! Hope you enjoy!!

This week's theme over at Sew Many Challenges is to make something, anything but...a card..., with a Christmas theme. Now, I LOVE Christmas but I'll be the first to admit my talents are very lacking in making altered projects so....be easy on me! I cut the popcorn bag at fit to page on a 12x24 paper and then just embellished as you see. I used some white flock on this cute little bear's hat and some glossy accents on the candies. Did you know the Pink Elephant Challenge blog was now doing scrapbook challenges? This week is a sketch challenge and you can read all about it here. I am trying to get through all of my 35 mm photos that I have printed already so...my large photo is actually a collage as I was using all 3 1/2 x 5 photos to start with. I ruffled my ribbon again on this one....love that look and it is so easy to do! I used my Independence Day Cricut seasonal cartridge to cut out the hat and the word "freedom". That patriotic patterned paper is, I believe, Paper Studio...it is some I've had in my stash that I believe my friend, Sandie, gave me....she hooked me up with lots of goodies! I'm also entering this in the Frosted Designs challenge this week which is to use buttons on your project!

Sew Many Challenges Father's Day Card No Blues Challenge!!!

I had a ball making this card....lots of distressing and inking....very therapeutic!! This project is for this weeks Sew Many Cards challenge of making a Father's Day project with NO Blue. I absolutely love working with this cute little donkey! Isn't that just the sweetest face? You can purchase this cutie here. I took some of my Giddy Up papers from CTMH and some plain old Walmart black cardstock and went to town inking and tearing. I envisioned an old wanted poster with the "charred" edges. I picked up these old rusty stars in a cute little shop in Rapid City, SD and have been "saving" them....do you ever feel like you are as much a collector as a crafter? Anywho I played with some twine and some glue dots trying to get a lasso thing going and didn't quite achieve the look I wanted but you get the idea. I think my Dad will like it! Hope you do, too. I had so much fun making this layout. I used my new Create A Critter Cricut cartridge to cut out the sentiment, clouds and the umbrella. I know the cardstocks I used on the umbrella are from DCWV stacks. The cloud paper is from Creative Imaginations and the green dot is from Scenic Route. We at SMC are so excited as we are blog hopping with Sunshine Stamps and The Stamping Boutique today!! So grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable and we hope you truly enjoy the hop!!! My card was made using the Jaden in Baby Carriage image and you can purchase it here. I used some of my new Cosmo Cricket Earth Love papers and some SU Dusty Durango and Gina K Sweet Corn cardstock. I was going for a vintage"y" look and I'm getting there slowly but surely. I did a lot of inking on this one and you will notice that I tore my papers and rolled them back and hid another piece of patterned paper underneath. I saw this technique on a video I watched the other night and I can't seem to find the link right now. I'll post it as soon as I find it. The sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages from Papertrey Ink. The little charm is one I picked up at Walmart. Hope you like it! Logan's Graduation

My son, Logan, is graduating from the 6th grade today and he has a sweet tooth like I do so....I decided to make him a candy bouquet. I saw the sweetest arrangement here and I totally duplicated her idea. There is a mini candy bar attached to the back of each flower so I think he will like it! I'm not much on making things other than cards or scrapbook layouts but I really enjoyed making this! You should really try it. It didn't take me long at all. I cut everything with my cricut and then got out some skewers and some floral tape and went to town. Hope you like it!

Anything Goes at SMC!

Isn't this just the sweetest image ever? I needed a baby card this week so this is my project for this week's challenge at SMC which is Anything Goes. You can purchase this image here. I used some beautiful papers from Creative Imaginations and some Lemon Tart cardstock from Papertrey Ink. The little tag on the bottom that you can barely see which says Little Boy is from Making Memories. The ribbon is another clearance find on the Stampin Up sale. The extra stars are from an old paper punch I have and they are there because as I was working on my project and turned my image over to put some glue on it....I must have had some ink on my mat or something as I got a little spot of something on my image so....no mistakes just an opportunity to be a little more creative (he! he! he!). I used one of my new labels spellbinders to cut my image and the mat that it is on. Many of you who have spellbinders probably have noticed that most of the labels are approx. 1/4 inch graduated and many of us like 1/8 mats so.....I just used the die that I cut my image out with and taped it down on my cardstock and used an exacto knife to cut around the outer rim (totally not my idea but saw it here). This week's challenge over at SMC is to make an easel card. I used Tayla hanging on this tree which is part of the huge set you can get FREE over at Sew Many Cards with a $10 purchase....just use code MAYBONUS when you check out. You can find more information about that here. My Dad is going through a second round of chemo right now so I wanted to make a card to send to him (please keep him in your prayers). I used some copper cardstock that is "locally grown" and some basic black spruced up with some wonderful patterned paper from the Juntos pack from Stampin Up (another one of my clearance purchases). I printed my image fairly large as I wanted it to take up most of the front, I colored it with copics and then sponged with a very light blue around it to make my sky. I used my nesties to cut out that perfect sentiment which is also part of the FREE set. Here are the copics I used

SMC Christmas In.....

This week over at Sew Many Challenges ....we challenge you to make a Christmas project! Yes, I know it is only May but....how many of us end up sending out email cards over the holidays because time gets away from us? I know....I know...I can so relate so why not get a head start and have some fun! For my card I used this sweet heavenly Miki Christmas Angel image which you can find here. I love a monochromatic card as I think it just automatically gives an elegant look. I used some ivory cardstock that I bought by the ream at Office Depot or Office Max and just gave it lots of texture using my spellbinders and my cuttlebug folders. As you will see below I didn't use much in the way of colors with my copics because I wanted to keep it a "soft" look. I used the wonderful SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter which I love!! I then finished it off with a bow and a nice little gem in the middle! Here are the copics I used:

Easter Layout

I saw this layout by Monique Griffith on her fun blog here and had to get my new Easter Cricut cartridge out and try it myself. I love those sweet little animals and that beautiful dish to hold the Easter eggs. My daughter wasn't too thrilled with the Easter bunny but I just had to scrap this picture. I put the "Hawaii" in the grass because we are military and move alot so I always like to denote on my page where we were living at the time. Hope you enjoy!

This week's challenge at Sew Many Cards is Anything Goes! I've been itching to work with this cute little airplane which you can purchase here. I used my Hero Arts Clouds background stamp and then my Martha Stewart scallop punch to create a layering of clouds along the bottom. The red saddle stich ribbon is some that I found at a local craft supply warehouse - love it! The hello greeting is from a SU set called Tiny Tags and I used the coordinating jewelry tag punch to punch it out. The base cardstock is SU Bermuda Bay and PTI Pure Poppy. There is a banner included in this digital image set but I opted not to use it and replaced it with my "loopy" string. As a matter of fact this set has 3 images included: 2 different banner sentiments and then a blank one for you to create your own if you choose. This image is really fun to work with! The Cutting Cafe (Beautiful Blooms)

We are so excited over at Sew Many Cards to have Regina Easter from The Cutting Cafe sponsoring us again this month. Talk about some talent....this lady and her design team are AWESOME! I am honored to get to work with a set called Beautiful Blooms. This set contains so many beautiful flowers and your choice of different vases, pots and containers plus....different sentiments. Everything you need to make a beautiful card all in one set. I printed the bouquet of flowers out and then cut around them (please, don't look too close as there is a reason you don't see me do much fine detail cutting). I then printed the terra cotta pot out and colored it, then layered on my flowers with dimensionals. That grass is some scrap green cardstock I had in my stash cut with the new Martha Stewart fringe scissors. Most of you could do this easily with your regular scissors but as I hinted to above my cutting abilities are seriously lacking....hence why I love all the cutting tools (he! he!). I again used the Farm Fresh paper from October Afternoon (lovin it!). I felt it suited this image perfectly! I used my computer to print my sentiment and then punched it using the word window punch from SU and then layered that on to the modern label punch also from SU. I cut my carrots on my Cricut using the From My Kitchen cartridge and then I did some embossing on them with my cuttlebug and tied some string around them. Stitchy Stamps

I am so excited to share this project with you today! I had the honor of playing with this beautiful image from Stitchy Stamps, this week's sponsor over at Sew Many Challenges. This gorgeous cross is called Fall Blessings and you can purchase it here. As this image just seemed to stand alone I didn't add any patterned papers. I used Gina K. Designs Sweet Corn Pure Luxury cardstock and the blue is Bermuda Bay from SU. The flowers are from K & Company and I used my copic marker to color the top ones and added a little bling and wove in some ribbon. I used my Scor Pal to add a little dimension and punched out some leaves with a hand punch I have had for quite some time. Hope you like it! Here are the copics I used on this one:

Sew Many Cards Stitch Challenge

This week's challenge over at Sew Many Challenges is to make a card using stitching....be it faux or otherwise. I chose to use this new Owen image as I just think he is the cutest!!! You can purchase this image here. Wait until you see what you get for FREE this month with a $10 order!! But before you go shopping let me tell you about what I did with this project. You can barely see my stitching as I used a light color thread but if you look closely you will see it up the sides...don't look too closely as I need much more practice!!! It was fun getting my sewing machine out and trying though....I usually go the quick and easy route and do faux stitching but I just purchased the Janome Sew Mini a while back and thought I would finally sit down and have a go with it and well....I do love the look but I definitely need to practice as I said. The patterned paper I used is from K & Company and their Berry Sweet line. The ribbon is Making Memories and the cardstock is Crushed Curry from SU. That sentiment is from the Tiny Tags SU set and I used the coordinating punch with it. Here are the copics I used:

Sew Many Cards Friday Freebie

Can you believe this cute little sandcastle is Angela's Friday Freebie? Yes, you read that right FREE!! Hurry on over to Sew Many Challenges to pick yours up as it will only be available this week! This card looks so much better IRL as I used sand FlowerSoft along the bottom and you really can't see it in the picture. That patterned paper is from Close To My Heart and it is from the Majestic Blue pack. The cardstock is PTI kraft and SU Baja Breeze. The "netting" in the back is drywall tape....got that fun little trick from my friend, Sandie. It works wonderfully as you can ink it up and fray it easily. It also is already somewhat sticky so it lays down nice but it is easy to peel up and move if you need to. Plus one roll goes along way making it much more economical than the mesh made for scrapbooking. I, of course, colored this with my copics....love those markers!! Here are the ones I used today:

Sew Many Challenges Punch It Challenge & Wags N Whiskers

This week at Sew Many Challenges our challenge is to Punch It!! What a fun challenge!!! I used this cute little Hershey Crafting image which you can purchase here. I colored him with the copics pictured below. I was going in the direction of red/kraft but then I ran across this cute burgundy polka dot craft paper in my scraps and thought it was just too cute, hence, the different color red copics below as I ended up going a more burgundy route. That super cute flower is made by punching scalloped circles out of paper from an old thesaurus. Dawn McVey made an awesome tutorial which you can view here on how to make these super cute super easy flowers. I then used my scallop edge border punch and made the ruffles along the bottom (you can see the dimension more in the copics picture below). I again borrowed this idea from the wonderful Dawn McVey (see the inspiration card here).

I had the honor of playing with this sweet image called Just for You. Doesn't he just melt your heart? Please note that this is a rubber stamp so this is the actual size. I colored him with copics and used some patterned paper from October Afternoon Farm Fresh line and I just love that brown and blue together. That blue is Stampin Up's Baja Breeze and the brown is Chocolate Chip. I used a Spellbinders Polka Dot Frame to layer over my image. I then took some blue and brown ribbons from my stash and used the Chatterbox Brad Maker to make a coordinating brad for the center of my bow. Here are the copics I used on this card.

Cornish Heritage Farms (Sew Many Cards Sponsor)

We are so excited to have Cornish Heritage Farms as our sponsor this week over at Sew Many Challenges. They graciously donated some amazing new release rubber cling stamps for the winner AND they generously gave the design team at SMC some to work with also. I was thrilled to get this beautiful Peacock Scene Backgrounder stamp which was just released on the 19th. It is so beautiful that I felt it didn't need much in the way of embellishing. I just embossed it and then went over it with distress ink and just let the image shine by itself. It is so intricate and beautiful but yet it was so easy to stamp due to the high quality of rubber and the deep etching. Lots of times it is hard to get good coverage with big background stamps but this one was so easy...I got a nice crisp full image every time I stamped with it and I played around with it quite a bit trying different colors, etc. I didn't even put it on a block....I just inked it with versamark and laid it down and put my paper on the stamp and just used my hand to ensure that I applied pressure to the entire image. The little paper flower on the bow was made by using a Martha Stewart punch and then wetting the cardstock and wrinkling it....just as I did the flowers on the previous post using Christina's awesome tutorial. I failed to write down the color cardstock I used but I'm pretty certain it is the 2 greens from PaperTrey Ink but don't quote me on that. Hope you like it!

Sew Many Challenges - Spring Sketch Challenge!

This week's Sew Many Cards Challenge is a dual one - make a spring project using the sketch given over on the challenge blog. I chose sweet little Jovi as my image to work with as she is just the cutest little bunny I've ever seen! You can find her here. I used some SU Bermuda Bay and PTI Berry Sorbet for my cardstock. The patterned paper is from the Twitterpated line by Imaginisce. I colored my image with the copics you will see below. I used my nestabilities to cut my image out, however, I had already handcut a portion of her beautiful long ears so that they could hang over the edge and not be cut as part of the oval. To do this just handcut the portion you want to hang over and then tuck it behing the cutting side of your nestie so it doesn't get cut when you run it through your machine. Those flowers I made with the PTI cardstock using Christina's tutorial which you can find here. These are super easy and super fun! I used my computer to make my sentiment and added some ribbon and some leaves I cut with my sizzix die and there you go.

I am so excited to have the chance to play with this sweet image called Two Cute Musicians from Soft Pencil Designs! Doesn't the name say it all!!! They are so incredibly cute!!! I pulled out some fun papers I have had in my stash by Love, Elsie. I printed the sentiment on my computer and then punched it out with the SU word window punch and layered that on the chocolate punched with the modern label SU punch. (We should have some cookies with all that punch - he! he!) I do love how those two punches work together! I added a little bling on the sentiment and the musical notes. Sew Many Cards Easter Challenge!

This week's challenge over at Sew Many Cards is to make an Easter project. Well....I picked Jovi in Basket as who could resist that cute bunny - those ears!!! You can purchase this sweet image here. Even this sick little bear is so stinkin' cute! KLM Designs has graciously sponsored this week's Sew Many Cards Challenge and I got the pleasure of working with this cute image from their store. Sew Many Cards Male Project Challenge!

Sometimes those male cards are just really hard to do! This one wasn't though...this was actually great fun! I used Fishing Tayla and I love working with those rich greens so that is where I started. I've been on a fishing kick haven't I? I had this wonderful plaid paper from Cosmo Cricket (Happy Campers) and I had this wonderful idea to add eyelets ... I don't work with them very often as I just don't think about it.....well.....I really felt silly when I just couldn't figure out how I needed to lace it up to get the look I was going for but...this is what I ended up with. I should have used lacing brads (lesson learned) to get the look I wanted but it still turned out OK (let me know if you have any pointers). You can purchase this sweet image here.

I am so excited to get to work with this sweet Soft Pencil design of Amy, Michu & Ratiny. I kept thinking of Hanzel and Gretel as I worked on this card. I just think this image is adorable!!!! I've been itching to use this Basic Grey patterned paper for a while and I felt this was the perfect image for those beautiful blues and greens. I used my copics to color and then distressed around the edges of the patterned paper. I used Versamark ink to watermark stamp my flourishes on that beautiful Bermuda Bay blue SU cardstock. The green cardstock is from a Papertrey Ink variety pack and I am not positive but I believe it is called leaf green (it is their darker green). The little butterfiles are from a Martha Stewart punch! We are so grateful to have Elizabeth sponsor us this month! I've got to learn how to photograph my layouts better. They really do look lots better IRL! These are just some random layouts I've been working on. I have a whole box of pictures from 2000 that I'm trying to complete. I told myself that I have to complete all the tons of photos I have in boxes before I start working with my digital ones! I like my books to be in chronological order so I decided just to pull out a year and get started.

I don't know where February has gone but....I sure had fun playing with this cute image of Morty fishing. Isn't he adorable? I stamped the cloud background with a Hero Arts background stamp and colored Morty with copics. I used SU Bermuda Bay cardstock for my base and then some aqua ribbon I had on hand to make my "waves". I saw this card that Heather made here and just thought it was adorable so I knew as soon as I saw this image what I wanted to do with him! Be sure and look around her blog as she has some really cute stuff!!! I got lost over there for quite a while. To make my waves I just laid down some scor tape and just pleated my ribbon as I went - I wanted a messy wave look. IRL Oliver looks much brighter....I had a hard time getting a picture and this was the best I was able to capture. I had fun with this sketch...Oliver is such a cutie! I used some Jillibean patterned paper and some left over ribbon. I cut the Hooray with my cricut and then just used my white gel pen to help it stand out a little better, added some skittles and I was done. This cute image is this week's Friday Freebie! I had so much fun working with this one as it is such a sweet fresh image. I wanted to do a monochromatic card and I thought this was the perfect image for just that type of card. I dry embossed a layer of the same cardstock as my base and then layered my image on a checked pattern of the same color with a little larger image in the same base cardstock. I have always admired this look when I see others do it but this is my first and I have to say I will be using this technique again! I love how it just enhances the image but just lets the image shine! Be sure to head on over and pick up this image as it will only be available until this time next week. Totally Papercrafts Challenge!!

Sew Many Cards is sponsoring the challenge over at Totally Papercrafts this week so I wanted to play along and I've been itching to use this little Irish Duncan!!! The challenge is "lots of spots" and you have probably noticed that I love polka dots!!! So....this was way fun for me!!! I had some green/white polka dot paper in my stash and then I made the white/green polka dot layer with my new Papertrey Ink polka dot stamps (love them)! I cut my shamrock with my circut then embossed. I then printed my sentiment and cut it out with my SU jewelry tag punch, added ribbon and a button and I was done. This was a really easy card to make and Duncan is so much fun to color!!! Hope you will join in the fun!

I'm also entering this in the Pink Elephant Challenge as it is a recipe challenge this week and the only ingredient is ribbon (how perfect for me as it is very rare for me to have ribbon at least somewhere on my card)!.
